Once upon a time there lived a boy named Raja in the beautiful town of Ranchi in northern part of India. He was 5 years old.
Raja had lost his mother when he was only 2 years and he used to live with his father (Shyam), step mother (Usha) & 2 step brothers (Gollu & Pollu). His Father used to love him a lot but his step mother didn't like him much. She used to make little Raja do lot of work at home.
After Raja's mother died Shyam had told Raja that She had gone to God's house and that She will write letters to him from there. Every afternoon after returning from School Raja used to eagerly wait for the postman expecting him to one day get a letter for him from his mother. Seeing this his step brothers used to make fun of him which used to make him cry.
He used to get very little time with his Father since he used to work very hard day & night in order to earn food for the family. Before Shyam got married to her second wife he used to spend the evenings with little Raju. But after marriage his step mother won't let Shyam spend much time with Raju.
One day little Raja was sitting all alone with his head down crying beside a Pond. Suddenly he heard someone calling his name. When he looked above he found a fairy standing in front of him. She had come out from a lotus flower in the pond.
Raja was very surprised & scared. The beautiful fairy said "Please don't be scared. I have brought a letter for you from your loving mother". Raja jumped on his little foot, ran, hugged and thanked the fairy for the letter. After giving the letter Fairy kissed Raja on his forehead and said "May all your wishes come true" after that She disappeared.
Raja couldn't wait and hastily opened the letter. This letter was magical. As soon as he opened the letter it started talking to him. "Raju, how are you?". Raju was surprised and thrilled. He ran with the letter to show it to his Father. "Daddy Daddy I got the letter from Mom and it talks to me". The letter was still talking to Raja but only Raja could hear it. Shyam eyes were filled with tears but he didn't say anything since he didn't wanted to take away this little joy from Raja. He said "Great Raja, I had told you that your Mom will surely send you a letter".
Raja hughed his Father and then went to bed with the letter below his pillow.
